I just had to have my “Termite Guy” come out and treat for the little critters. He noticed all of my PSU gear in the garage and said that he’s a Big Ten guy too – Michigan. So, not only do we have that in common, we also both can’t stand Ohio State. We quickly realized that we share the same kind of passion for college football.
So, in his honor, I’ve taken the opportunity to write up what’s left of the Michigan schedule in case he’s interested in taking a trip.
Week 4 – vs BYU
An epic Wandering Spectator weekend is available! This is why Wandering Spectator was created! Here’s an example of a trip that could have been booked. Fly in Friday and hit the Twin vs Tigers at 7pm. Prepare for a double-header on Saturday. Head to Ann Arbor for the Noon kickoff of UM vs BYU, then back to Detroit for the second game of Twins vs Tigers. Sunday, another double-header. This time, Twins vs Tigers at 1pm, then walk across the street for the Sunday night Broncos vs Lions game!
Week 5 – @ Maryland
Catch the Yankees vs Orioles on Friday night at Camden Yards. Then Michigan vs Maryland on Saturday. Finish the weekend with an NFC East matchup of Eagles vs Redskins.
Week 6 – vs Northwestern
Fly in Friday to catch the Maple Leafs vs Wings, then Michigan vs Northwestern Saturday afternoon. Cap the weekend with the Cardinals vs Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Week 7 – vs Michigan State
Another trifecta. Friday night, Carolina vs Red Wings, Saturday with in state rival Michigan State, then finish with the Bears at the Lions.
Week 8 – @ Minnesota
Friday night has the Blackhawks in town vs the Wild. Michigan takes on the Gophers in a late season night game – on Halloween!
Week 9 – vs Rutgers
Michigan takes on Rutgers on Saturday, then the Stars take on the Wings Sunday afternoon.
Week 10 – @ Indiana
With basketball season opening up, you have to catch a game in the Hoosier state! You can see the Pacers vs Timberwolves on Friday, then down to Bloomington for the Wolverines vs Hoosiers.
Week 11 – @ Penn State
Tough location to pair, but you have options. Pittsburgh is the closest large airport. Depending on kickoff for the late season matchup that is designated a Whiteout for Penn State, you might be able to make it back to Pittsburgh for the Sharks vs Pens game Saturday night. If you fly into Baltimore, the next closest, you can catch the Rams vs Ravens Sunday before flying home. Or if Philly, grab a cheesesteak and catch Jameis Winston and the Bucs against the Eagles.
Week 12 – vs Ohio State
The Lions host their annual Thanksgiving Day game – this time against the Eagles. Friday, catch the Edmonton in town vs the Wings. Saturday, The Game. Who knows, maybe make the trip to East Lansing for the Penn State vs Michigan State matchup if possible. Then Sunday, the Panthers visit the Wings.
There you have it. Probably one of the most Wandering Spectator-Friendly schedules I’ve ever seen. Virtually ever week has an option to extend your weekend and your viewing pleasure. Which one will you pick?
And, if you ever need termite extermination, Jim’s your guy. Check him out at www.yourbugsonourdrugs.com and tell him the Wandering Spectator sent you!
