#Wandering with @HawkeyeFootball

Check out the #Hawkeyes schedule and start planning your roadtrip today! #GoHawks

Let’s take a look at the Hawkeye’s 2017 schedule to see what other games you might be able to catch along the way.

Like State College, there aren’t many options nearby.  Your best option for additional games will most likely be on the road, but let’s see if we can find anything worthwhile for homes games as well.

Saturday Sep. 2 Cowboys Wyoming Cowboys
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

You’re usually either a fan of Iowa, Iowa State or Northern Iowa. But if you happen to be just of fan of Iowa football in general, you can catch all of the teams in action this week.  The Cyclones play Thursday night in Ames against Northern Iowa and the Hawkeyes open the season at home against Wyoming on Saturday.

Or you can check out Boston College visiting Northern Illinois on Friday before heading to Iowa City.

Saturday Sep. 9 Cyclones at Iowa State Cyclones
Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, IA

The Hawks visit their instate rival in Ames and that’s about it.

Saturday Sep. 16 Mean Green North Texas Mean Green
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

Once again, nothing else happening in Iowa this weekend. And really? The Mean Green? Weren’t they they guys from The Longest Yard? Never mind. That was the Mean Machine.

Saturday Sep. 23 Nittany Lions Penn State Nittany Lions
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

Penn State visits Iowa City. This is the game that inspired the creation of the Wandering Spectator. Me and three friends used this game as the centerpiece to pull together an epic trifecta of events – starting and ending in Chicago.  This year, a trifecta is again possible with the White Sox hosting the Royals Friday and the Bears vs Steelers in town on Sunday. Who’s going to take the challenge?

Saturday Sep. 30 Spartans at Michigan State Spartans
Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI

Their first trip out of state, but there’s nothing else happening in Detroit at this point.

Saturday Oct. 7 Fighting Illini Illinois Fighting Illini (HC)
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

Back at home, the Hawkeyes take on the Illini. If you hang around Chicago til Monday, you’ll be treated to the Vikings vs Bears in Prime Time!

Saturday Oct. 21 Wildcats at Northwestern Wildcats
Ryan Field, Evanston, IL

A trip to Chicago and you can catch the Hawkeyes vs Wildcats on Saturday followed by the Panthers vs Bears on Sunday.

Saturday Oct. 28 Gophers Minnesota Golden Gophers
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

After the battle for the pig, aka, the Floyd of Rosedale trophy, you might want to consider taking the drive to KC on Sunday to catch the Monday AFC West showdown between the Chiefs and the Broncos.

Saturday Nov. 4 Buckeyes Ohio State Buckeyes
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

There’s nothing else happening, but do you really need anything else? This will be the Buckeye’s first visit to Kinnick since 2010!

Saturday Nov. 11 Badgers at Wisconsin Badgers
Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI

This is more of weekend for Wisonsin fans than Iowa. The Hawks visit Camp Randall on Saturday and not too far down the road in Chicago, the Packers visit the Bears.

Saturday Nov. 18 Boilermakers Purdue Boilermakers
Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA

The Boilermakers visit Iowa City on Saturday and over in Chicago, the Bears take on the Lions on Sunday.

Friday Nov. 24 Cornhuskers at Nebraska Cornhuskers
Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE

This is an awesome Thanksgiving weekend of football. Start on Friday with the Hawks visiting Lincoln. Head south to Manhattan to see Iowa State vs Kansas State on Saturday, then next door in Kansas City on Sunday, the Chiefs host the Bills.

Saturday Dec. 2 Big Ten Big Ten Championship Game
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN

And if the Hawkeyes make it to Indy, celebrate by dropping down to Cincy for the Steelers vs Bengals on Sunday!

That wraps up the Hawkeyes 2017 schedule. Which is your dream drip? Stop wondering and start wandering!
