Wandering with the Bills – 2019

Are you planning a trip to see the Bills this year?  Will you head to Buffalo for its unique tailgating environment or are you the kind of fan that likes to travel to see them in other stadiums?

If you’re like me, either home or away, I always try to parlay the Bills game into a weekend with another sporting event.  Last year, I was able to catch Penn State playing in Bloomington on Saturday, then Buffalo in Indianapolis on Sunday.  These weekend stretch your travel dollar and make for awesome memories.

Here’s a look at the Bills schedule and some other events that are scheduled nearby.  Don’t forget to check back later to see if the NBA, NHL or MLB playoffs line up.

Sep. 8 at New York Jets 1:00pm ET

The Bills start the year at Met Life Stadium – in the first of back-to-back games in New York! I guess the league wants to get a close look at Josh Allen and the only team from New York! Over in Queens, the Mets take on the Phillies Fri-Sun and welcome the Diamondbacks starting Monday.

Sep. 15at New York Giants 1:00pm ET

Saquon Barkley will be trying to save the day for the Giants, but will Eli be their QB?  We’ll find out shortly.  Again over in Queens, the Dodgers visit the Mets for some late season baseball. If you’re more into college football, check out Maryland at Temple down I-95 on Saturday for an early look at the new Maryland HC, Mike Locksley.

Sep. 22Cincinnati Bengals 1:00pm ET

Catch the UB Bulls on Saturday as they host Temple in MAC action. If you have your passport, head north of the border for the Orioles at Toronto

Sep. 29New England Patriots 1:00pm ET

How many more chances will you have to see a sex toy with Brady’s name on it thrown onto the field? Across the border, the Jays host the Rays in some late-season baseball.  Perhaps there’s playoff spot on the line?

Oct. 6at Tennessee Titans 1:00pm ET

Partying with the Vol Navy should be on your bucket list and with Tennessee hosting Georgia in an SEC game, this might be a great opportunity.  Sure it’s a couple hour drive, but it would be worth it.  If you’d rather stay closer to home, Marshall visits Middle Tennessee in nearby Murfreesboro. For hockey, the Preds host the Red Wings Saturday night as well.

Oct. 20Miami Dolphins 1:00pm ET

Across the Thruway, Syracuse hosts Pitt in the Carrier Dome on Saturday in an ACC matchup.

Oct. 27Philadelphia Eagles 1:00pm ET

It’s not often these two teams get to face each other. This meeting will mark only the 14th game with the Birds holding a 7-6 advantage. Get warmed up by catching the UB Bulls as they take on Central Michigan on Saturday. Then stick around to see the Coyotes as they visit the Sabres on Monday.

Nov. 3Washington Redskins 1:00pm ET

This is another opponent that the Bills rarely see with Bills holding the series advantage 8-6. You have another option to catch Syracuse – this time against BC, but as it gets later in the year, you might be best to avoid driving.  Stay local and catch the Sabres hosting the Islanders on Saturday night.  You can check out some of the Buffalo nightlife – and wings!

Nov. 10at Cleveland Browns 1:00pm ET

With Baker and OBJ, the Browns are expected to be on the rise. But with Josh Allen at the controls, the Bills won’t be a pushover. You could head to Akron for another directional-Michigan team as Eastern comes to town, but I’d highly recommend carving out a few hours and hitting the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!  Our visit there last year totally blew us away.

Nov. 17at Miami Dolphins 1:00pm ET

With as many college teams as there are in South Florida, you’d think you’d be able to catch something, but they’re all out of town!  Fear not! Catch the Pelicans vs the Heat Saturday night.  If you prefer hockey, the Rangers are in town against the Panthers. No matter what you choose, winter in Miami is reason enough to head south. Throw in an AFC rival and it’s well worth the trip.

Nov. 24Denver Broncos 1:00pm ET

The Broncos come to town, but Buffalo looks like a ghost town at this point.  Maybe catch Niagara Falls. If it’s iced-over, it’s a magical site.

Nov. 28at Dallas Cowboys 4:30pm ET

The Bills land their first Thanksgiving game in over 20 years! While I was hoping to make Dallas my trip this year, I’ll be watching this from my couch with a turkey leg in my hand. I can only imagine the spread Pinto Ron and the boys will have in Dallas.  If it’s anything like the time I tailgated with them in November, it’s sure to be something. If you do make the trip, the next day, West Virginia takes on TCU in Fort Worth or the Blues visit the Stars in hockey on the same day.

Dec. 8Baltimore Ravens 1:00pm ET

Here’s another team rarely sees the Bills’ schedule.  The Ravens hold the series advantage 5-3, but if you combine it with Indy, Buffalo leads 40-37-1. With college winding down and into their Championship games, there’s nothing happening this weekend.

Dec. 15at Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00pm ET

Pittsburgh is a great city to visit, but mid-December will be a little dicey weather-wise.  Heinz Field offers some spectacular views of the city and it’s a very walkable city – which should help if there’s any snow. Start the weekend on Saturday night with the Kings in town against the Pens.

Dec. 21at New England Patriots Time TBA ET

Is this the year the Bills are in contention for a playoff spot and they take down the evil empire? Let’s hope so.  Late December in New England will definitely have Josh Allen recalling his Wyoming days. Even though Foxboro is about an hour outside of Boston, you can spend the weekend in the city and catch Nashville in town against the Bruins on Saturday night.

Dec. 29New York Jets 1:00pm ET

The Bills finish their 2019 regular season campaign at home against the Jets. Start your weekend Friday night with the Sabres hosting the Bruins.
